Since I didn’t want to make an essay of a post, I decided to divide my post on the International summer night market into three categories. So here is part two to my mini series which features the best DRINK AND DESSERTS the international summer night market has to offer.

(Disclaimer: All food reviewed in this post were provided free of charge to me by International summer night market and the vendors through a media event hosted by Chinesebites. All opinions in this post are honest, my own and not influenced by the companies involved to make this happen.)

DRINKS

1. Fresh fruit juice

This booth takes fresh fruit juice to extremes! First, they hollow out your fruit (either a pineapple or mini watermelon)

And then they take the flesh that they just extracted from the fruit, pop it into a blender and pour it back into it before serving it to you!

I felt so cool (both literally and figuratively) drinking this pineapple juice! It was so sweet and just simply amazing. I felt like I was being teleported to the tropics

2. Fresh lemonade

Nothing speaks freshly squeezed like an assembly line of lemon juicers and a plastic tub of lemons! Not only did this booth offer original lemonade, but they also offered it spiked with strawberry, passion fruit, cherry or lime syrups!

We decided to get the passion fruit one since we thought it would be interesting. I felt like it was a little too sweet for my taste but other than that it was yum.

3. Yuja ade

This is a new drink for me. Apparently it’s a popular drink in Korea. It’s made out of a citrus-y marmalade and I thought that the flavor resembled a mix between kumquat and mandarin orange. Yuja = yuzu?

MUST HAVE DESSERTS

1. Shaved ice

Cold, light, refreshing. Cold there be anything better? We got this bowl of shaved ice at the Yuja Ade booth. The shaved ice was topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, watermelon, fruit cocktail, redbean paste, banana and condensed milk.

We loved how generous the toppings were on our shaved ice but it ended up backfiring a little bit at the end because it ended up being too sweet due to the hefty amount of condensed milk, red bean and ice cream on top. Otherwise, delicious.

2. Ice cream…in a fish

I had these before in Japan and was super excited to experience such wonderfulness again.

While the Taiyaki fish waffle was crispy and well made, we weren’t a huge fan of the ice cream. It didn’t really taste like vanilla and it almost felt over churned because it wasn’t smooth or silky. Fun thing to try but wasn’t too big on the ice cream itself. Perhaps I will stick to having the fresh fruit juice from this booth instead.

2. Crepes

I don’t think I’ve ever put up a photo of brother deer but here he is in his “tall, dark and handsome” glory (oh he better thank me for that glam intro later).

Anyways, crepes. I love them, dont you?

We decided to get the Nutella filled one because brother deer isn’t a fan of banana (he’s totally missing out). Well prepared crepe that was filled with nutella and ice cream? No complaints here!

3. Deep fried everything

Such a classic carnival treat. This vendor offers both deep fried candy bars and ice cream. Neither of us had tried deep fried ice cream before so we decided to try it.

Apparently they have to freeze the ice cream ball at a super cold temperature so that it doesn’t melt when it hits the fryer. They also told me that they used to serve this with a spoon but since the ice cream is so solid, they now serve it with a fork!

4. Crepe cake

Did I mention that I love crepes? So imagine my reaction when I found out that they had crepe cakes here too!

Miss Lina’s crepe cakes are stacked 20 layers high and they offer catering services for all your crepe loving needs. I thought that the mango crepe cake I had could of had a few more mango layers since I felt that there was a bit too much whip cream for my liking. The crepes themselves were wonderful though and there really were 20 layers!

5. Tofu pudding

Although soyboy doesn’t make their own tofu pudding, a lot of their toppings are homemade! Including their purple sweet potato mochi, sago pearls and honey cubes. The honey cubes reminded me of konyaku jelly since they had a bite to them. I love that their toppings are housemade because it’s something I don’t see often and who doesn’t like homemade treats?

I had this towards the end of the night so it was getting pretty chilly. Typically they serve their tofu pudding cold but they offered to heat it up on the stove for me! Talk about above and beyond customer service!
