My friends and I decided to have our Holiday dinner at JOEYs this year because it was close by and the ambiance was perfect for the occasion.
I made a reservation a week before to make sure that we would be able to get a table. When we arrived, they didn’t have our table ready for us yet so they offered us some champagne to sip on while we waited. None of us were complaining. I mean who’d say no to free bubbly?
We were seated in the dining area (as opposed to the lounge area) at a spacious table. I hate it when you try to make a reservation for a bigger party and they end up pulling up chairs for you left, right and center so that you can fit 8 people at a table that’s meant for 6.
Anyway, once we were settled, our server came to ask us if we wanted to get any drinks and after that she came back to take our food orders. Grayson and I decided to share the night market curry dip and the bbq salmon bowl.
The bbq salmon bowl came with about 4oz of salmon, sauteed veggies, spicy bbq sauce, watercress and white or brown rice.
We thought that the sauce could of been distributed more evenly because part of the rice was drenched in the bbq sauce while the other half had nothing on it at all. The rice was also clumpy and stuck together. The veggies could of been sauteed a little longer because the onions were raw.
The night market curry dip came with chips and naan bread. The curry had chickpeas in it and sour cream on top. There was more than enough curry to generously coat all the pieces of naan bread. We actually ended up using some for the rice as well since some of it didn’t have any sauce on it.
