Lil’ bun was craving Thai food over the winter holidays so we went out to eat at Chad Thai since it was right around the corner.
The two of us are so predictable when it comes to what we get at Thai restaurants because I always get the Tom Yum noodle soup and she always gets a Pad Thai. I mean I guess I’ve tried other Thai noodles soups from Chad Thai in the past but I always end up coming back to this one.
The Tom Yum soup was sweeter than most I’ve had in the past so it threw me off a little bit. It was also creamier due to the addition of coconut milk which helped dull the heat present in the soup. I would of liked it better if there was more lemongrass in it but that’s just me being picky about it. There was a good amount of mushrooms, shrimp and noodles in the bowl and I was happy that no lemon grass was in the bowl. There’s nothing worse than biting into a bulb of lemongrass!
Lil’ bun’s Pad Thai was nothing short of spectacular. It was stir-fried well and the raw bean sprouts on the side added textural crunch to the soft noodles. She said that it was sweeter than the Pad Thai from Thai Cafe and Bai Bui Thai though. I guess the food here tends to be on the sweeter side which can be confusing because they are savory dishes afterall but once you get past that, the food here is very enjoyable.
